John Hagee Says Hate is the Only Way to Save America

It wasn’t enough to persecute Paganism out of existence from the fourth century to the thirteenth, to launch pogrom after bloody pogrom at the Jews or crusade after crusade at the Muslims, or to exterminate people who disagreed with them from among their own religion until the Enlightenment put an end to holy wars in the name of Christ. It wasn’t enough to declare crusades and inquisitions and slaughter and oppress and torture with bloody glee for the better part of seventeen centuries.

It just wasn’t enough.

No, John Hagee wants to double down on the oppression and persecution. He expressed his feelings quite strongly in a special on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) called Faith Under Fire (not to be confused with the old PAX-TV show hosted by Lee Strobel).

Funny thing though. It seems it’s not “faith” that’s under fire here, but the lack of faith. But hey, the inquisition was just trying to help folks get their beliefs straightened out. In other words, don’t worry about the logic – there isn’t any. Only hate. Lots of hate.

You remember Hagee, right? The guy who said God killed the millions of Jews during the holocaust?

God sent a hunter. A hunter is someone who comes with a gun, and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.

He’s close in a sense: the Nazis were Christians and Hitler himself a tithe-paying Catholic till the day he died and did feel himself guided by “Providence”. The spirit of anti-Semitism embraced by National Socialism was Christian anti-Semitism, as old as the New Testament.

Yes, Hagee is the same guy who said God tried to destroy New Orleans with a flood because he hates gays and lesbians:

I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they are – uh, were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally, that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that Katrina came.

Yes, the same John Hagee who supported Rick Perry’s theocratization at The Response. Now this icon of reliability says that “Secular humanism is a pagan god and America is bowing at the shrine.” Really? Really?

Well hell, nothing that a few million more dead people won’t cure! I mean it’s worked so well in the past. Like Thomas Jefferson said, “Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned: yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.”

According to Hagee, we’re in a “moral freefall” and only “the church of Jesus Christ” can save us. Yeah, it’s done such a good job throughout history, as Jefferson observed. All we need is more religious fundamentalism. That will fix everything! I mean, it’s not like those medieval popes were having orgies and mistresses and murdering each other or anything.

He is blaming Paganism for America’s problems. Never mind that the vast majority of Americans are Christians and have been since its founding. Never mind that every president we’ve had for a long time has been a Christian, and most governors and senators and representatives and mayors and city councils. Never mind that it’s Christians who have the Faith Based Initiative, sucking up federal dollars, not pagans, not atheists, not secular humanists, not feminists or gays or lesbians.

But let’s face the facts: Christianity has never needed a good excuse to persecute people, as Hagee well knows. All it takes is a little hate and intolerance and a complete lack of personal responsibility. It’s so much easier to blame others. Really, what would Christianity be without an “Other” to blame and to persecute?

Watch the video from Right Wing Watch:

Secular humanism is a pagan god and America is bowing at the shrine. It has filled our drug rehab centers, it has filled the divorce courts, it has filled the shelter for battered wives, it has filled the rape crisis centers, it has filled the mental hospitals and single bars, it has filled the penitentiaries and the roster guests for the brain-dead television shows you see from New York. Think about that, we’re in a moral free fall where your children can be taught witchcraft by Harry Potter; that Heather has two mommies; you can substitute Christmas for a midwinter holiday, call it anything you want to but don’t call it Christmas, kick God out of the Christmas event; you can let your daughter go to school and she can get an abortion without your permission or without your knowledge but she cannot get an aspirin without your knowledge. Something is dreadfully wrong when you as the parent cannot control the destiny of your own child. America has turned its back from the God of the Bible and it is time for the church of Jesus Christ to stand up and speak up and say we have a right to the destiny of our own children!

I would be hard pressed to cram so much excrement into so small an area. Seriously. You really have to be an accomplished liar to do what Hagee has done.

Evangelicals have a higher than average divorce rate. It’s not secular humanism that’s to blame, as Hagee knows in his shriveled heart. It’s not secular humanists who are treating women like objects to be dominated and inseminated and cast aside. It’s not secular humanists who are mentally deranged and murdering people in their god’s name, and there are far fewer atheists in prisons than Christians. All of these facts are established facts, and irrefutable. But that doesn’t stop Hagee from selling himself to the Father of Lies and acting as the Mouth of Satan.

Harry Potter doesn’t teach witchcraft. It’s entertainment, for Pete’s sake! Don’t like it? Don’t watch it. Guess what? I didn’t want to watch Left Behind. My solution? I didn’t watch it. See how easy that is, Hagee? And Christmas isn’t’ a Christian holiday, it’s a Pagan holiday stolen by Christianity. His claim is like that of a thief who has stolen something and crying “Thief!” when it’s taken from him by another.

John Hagee is a hateful little man whose time passed in the twelfth century. It’s time he clue into his evolutionary dead-end. The time for this crap has come and gone, and we, as Americans, need to give him a wake-up call in 2012.  Because the only free-fall we’re in is a free-fall of hate. And it’s got to end.
