In 388 CE, news reached the Emperor Theodosius that a Christian mob led by its bishop had sacked the Jewish Synagogue in Callinicum near the Euphrates.
Theodosius ordered the synagogue rebuilt, but Ambrose of Milan blocked this.
All non-Christian calenders are outlawed. Hordes of fanatical hermits from the desert flood into Middle Eastern and Egyptian cities, destroying statues, altars, libraries and pagan temples, while Gentiles are lynched.
